Our Mission
Every athlete is trying to perform. Few are taught who they are.
Heading 6
ReThink Athletics helps athletes build confidence, handle pressure, develop identity beyond performance, and grow in leadership and character. The goal is not simply better performance under pressure, but healthier athletes who understand who they are and how to respond when the pressure comes on the field and in real life.
WHAT WE HELP ATHLETES DEVELOP
The mental and character side of sport.
Confidence Building

Build steady confidence that is not shattered by one bad game, one mistake, or one tough season.
Identity Beyond Performance
Leadership & Character

Develop maturity, responsibility, and a grounded presence on the field, in the locker room, and at home.
Mental Resilience

Help athletes understand who they are beyond stats, wins, and playing time.
Learn how to respond to pressure, setbacks, and expectations with clarity, composure, and strength.
SUPPORT SYSTEM
Athletes don’t grow alone.
ReThink Athletics also equips parents and coaches to create healthy environments where athletes can thrive. Growth does not happen only in a session. It happens at home, in conversations after games, in practice environments, and in the daily culture surrounding the athlete.
For parents: Better communication, healthier support, and a clearer understanding of what your athlete needs emotionally and mentally.
For coaches: Practical support for building team cultures marked by resilience, clarity, and character.
For schools and churches: A trusted, faith-rooted partner for developing the whole athlete.
PARENTS & COACHES MATTER
Growth happens through trusted relationships.
Athletes are shaped not only by what happens in competition, but by the voices, presence, and support surrounding them. ReThink Athletics helps strengthen those environments by equipping parents and coaches to lead with clarity, steadiness, and purpose.
This work is about more than the athlete alone. It is about building healthier relationships, stronger communication, and a support system that helps athletes grow with confidence, identity, and resilience.

ABOUT
A trusted voice for the mental and emotional side of sports.
Hi, I’m Luke Syfert.
Former athlete, coach, and counselor helping athletes rethink success, identity, and growth beyond performance.
ReThink Athletics was built from a conviction I’ve carried for years: athletes need more than physical training. They need help understanding pressure, emotion, identity, resilience, and purpose.
My journey in athletics has been both formative and diverse. I was a college catcher and team captain, where I learned firsthand the discipline, leadership, and mental resilience required to compete at a high level.
After graduating, I stepped into a Head Varsity Baseball Coach role in North Charleston, investing in young athletes and building team culture. Soon after, an opportunity to play at the next level presented itself, and I competed for one season in an independent professional league in Elmira, New York.
Following my playing career, I returned to my alma mater, Southern Wesleyan University, as an assistant coach before pursuing my Master’s in Counseling. These experiences shaped not only my understanding of sport, but also the internal challenges athletes face—pressure, identity, expectations, and growth.
Since 2007, I’ve also been deeply involved in the CrossFit community as both an athlete and, since 2010, a coach. Through years of training and coaching, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful the right environment can be—not just in building physical strength, but in shaping emotional resilience, confidence, and personal growth. CrossFit reinforced my belief that real transformation happens when people are known, challenged, and supported within a strong community.
Today, my passion is to lead the next generation of athletes to believe in themselves—and in the One who has given them the opportunity and gifts to excel—not only in their sport, but in the life set before them.
The heart behind ReThink Athletics is simple: to help athletes rethink performance, pressure, identity, and purpose in a way that is grounded, practical, and rooted in faith, character, and growth.
